1990 Toyota Pickup Project 4WD V6 Extended cab

1990 Toyota Pickup Project Extended cab 4WD, 3.0 V6, Manual trans. I must accept reality: I have too many projects! It is not easy to let this one go but it’s time to let you have a go at it. This 1990 Toyota Pickup was my daily driver up until about 3 years ago. I detected a grinding noise when braking so I decided it was time to park it, and start the ground up re-build that I had been wanting to do. That was 3 years ago. Between the crazy hours of EMS and simply keeping up with household projects and etc. I just can’t do it all. Here are a few details about the truck: New Windshield. The body appears to be quite solid. I’ve included a picture of the worst rust that I’m aware of, it’s simply a spot where the paint has worn through. I’m not aware of any collision damage. It drives straight. Still sounds very solid when slamming the doors shut. The 3.0 V6 Engine was running but definitely has a noise, like a bad lifter, that had been clacking along for about 20,000 miles. I was planning to swap to a newer, 3.4 engine. Even with the engine noise, whatever it is, I drove 70+ mph on the highway with no worries. The radio works like you’d expect a 27 year old radio to work. It sucks. It’s old enough that emissions controls no longer matter. Speedometer sometimes makes a crazy noise until it is warmed up good. AC has been converted to R134 and was working quite nicely. New radiator, at the time I parked it. All 4WD components working properly at the time I parked it. Remember all that ice a few years ago? The 4WD made an incredible difference! Rear end leaks at pinion and R axle seal. Drive shaft custom built to use real U joints. What was Toyota even thinking??? The pictured grill guard is from a later 4 Runner. It’s not a clean bolt up, I needed to modify the mount just a little. It’s sitting on steel rims and puncture resistant tires in the photo. Also included are the wide rim alloy wheels as well as the SR5 wheels with fairly low mileage “daily driver” tires. The dashboard appears to be crack free. I customized the driver seat rack to allow it to slide further back. It can easily be put back to “normal.” The truck came with a 60/40 bench seat which I swapped out for the buckets. The bench seat is in someone’s 4 Runner so don’t expect to ever see it again. (I wonder if they ever even noticed the swap? :-) Please buy it before I change my mind for the 93rd time. I like this thing a lot. I know you will do it justice. That’s how I’m coping. Send pictures when you’re finished . . . or bring it by for a visit. Or . . . no. . . . I have to quit thinking about this. I’m not abandoning it. I’m just delegating the task to a capable person like yourself. Sniff sniff. Waaaaaaaaaaaa!
