Red Flag Warning

It didn’t take long for a Red Flag failure to occur.  Links are below but here’s the gist of the story. :

A Marine in a MAGA cap publicly stated that he would defend himself against an attack by a [leftist] political group. A judge and the FBI took away his guns and incarcerated him.  Here are the ramifications as I see them:

* Do we have the right of free speech?  This man felt it important to warn the [leftist] group that if they “If [leftist group] gets to the point where they start [attacking] us, I’m going to [attack] them next. . .”  In other words, he was sending a warning to the [left wing] group that if they attacked him or his allies, he would respond in kind.

This is no different than the MAD doctrine of the cold war which was used to maintain world peace. “ If you hurt us, you’re guaranteed to get hurt back.”  The goal of such a position is to prevent the initial attack.  If you’ve read or seen anything at all about this [leftist group] you know that they show up wearing masks and carrying weapons from nail embedded baseball bats to bear spray and even “milkshakes” made of fast drying cement. Their method is to blind side and sucker punch those who disagree with them, causing severe injuries in the process.

Is our Marine wrong for attempting to keep peace by threatening defensive and retaliatory actions against their cowardly, hateful acts?

*The red flag law suppresses this Marine’s free speech.  He shows his support for our POTUS by wearing his MAGA cap.  This expression of support is met with violence by the [left wing] group and the government, which is obviously turning a blind eye as the [left wing] group actively suppresses the speech of our MAGA cap man by treating him as the oppressor when, in truth, it is the other way around.

* Free Speech suppressed: By making an example of this citizen, free speech is chilled across the nation.  People who support our president are often afraid to say so.  Who knows how many MAGA caps are sitting idle due to the fear of official repression? Even in the penning of this article, I’m suppressing words and phrases in hopes that I won’t end up in FB jail.

*  Due Process trampled.  Our constitution enshrines due process in the 5th and 14th amendments.  The 5th is part of our Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights lists rights of man. Rights which exist regardless of the existence of government.  In fact, our government’s job is to protect these rights. Instead, the government deprived our Marine of his arms AND incarcerated him for 20 days in a pcych ward even though he had comitted NO crime whatsoever.  No criminal trial, no jury of peers, just a tribunal of psych doctors who may or may not have a left leaning agenda.

*  Our government placed our Marine at risk.  Not only did the judge unconstitutionally incarcerate him for exercising free speech, and not only did the judge remove his means of personal protection, the judge doxed him to his enemies.  Or Marine’s name was broadcast to the nation enabling the [left wing] group, or even common burglars, know that his household was unprotected.  He risked his life for our country and our constitution and for that he gets unjust punishment by our government.

* The FBI is NOT part of due process yet they were complicit in the unconstitutional confiscation of property as well as unconstitutional incarceration.  If you think the FBI is above having a political agenda then your head is in the sand.  Our FBI, most recently, is a major player in the attempted coup against our sitting POTUS.  But that’s just one scandal of many dating back to the days of J Edgar Hoover.  In other words, our Marine’s free speech and due process were directly assaulted by a government agency which has been proven time and again to be a tool in the hands of the party in power.

Is that the world you want to live in?

Have you ever wondered why, up until 2016, there was very little difference between the main parties; which I commonly refer to as the Republicrats.

Here’s an enlightening explanation from 1995 or so by Steve Hollern, easily the most politically astute person I’ve ever known.

First, a little background.  1994 was the year of Newt Gingrich’s “Contract With America.”  Then, as now, the political tide has swung so far towards the R brand that in red states, such as Texas, it was almost futile to run for anything as a D.  Kay Granger, mayor of Fort Worth, had decided she needed to become a U.S. Congress critter so that meant she would become a Republican.

Hollern called her out but the “downtown crowd” in Fort Worth pretty much gets what they want (recently, they’re famous for weaponizing the CPS against a challenger but that’s a whole other story).  Kay has pretty much fulfilled every warning that Hollern told us about and today, Kay’s son gets paid a tidy $200,000+ annual salary to oversee Fort Worth’s “Bridges To Nowhere” project which is all about taking care of fat cats at taxpayer expense.

As you peruse the PDF file, take note that Hollern succinctly spells out the evidence that Kay is not a Repuclican.  She’s just one of a hoard of congress critters with similar backgrounds. This, boys and girls, is how we end up with the false choice of the Republicrat party.

In 2020, the decision will be between Socialists and the “Other Side.”  People who support Trump will win by a huge majority (thank you in advance for the landslide by all those popular vote states who will regret being so short sighted).   That’s the good news.  The bad news is that political critters of all breeds will all put on their MAGA caps and, regardless of their records, will crow about being Trumpers.  Before you know it, we’re right back to having a false choice.

What this means, fellow patriots, is that regardless of party (or lack thereof), if you care about the nation we’re leaving to our progeny you MUST get involved in the political game. You are responsible for the elected representatives and what manner of grief they foist upon us.  Think about this as you ruminate over the words President Lincoln so eloquently preached at Gettysburg:

“We here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain, that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom; and that government   __of the people, by the people, for the people, __   shall not perish from the earth.”

Leave no trace and the tragedy of the commons.

430 words plus a link.

I typically read Thoreau’s “Civil Disobedience” at least once every couple of years. He sings my tune, rather, I sing his tune since he sung it first: “I heartily accept the motto, –
“That government is best which governs least”; and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically. Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which I also believe, – “That government is best which governs not at all”; and when men are prepared for it, that will be the kind of government which they will have. Government is at best but an expedient; but most governments are usually, and all governments are sometimes, inexpedient.”
Sadly, men are not prepared to live with no government and likely never will be. While living at Walden, Thoreau chronicled his minimalist lifestyle. Like Thoreau, I try to reduce my footprint on the planet but that’s a relative statement. I certainly use fewer resources than, say, the great environmentalist Al Gore but I’m sure I indulge more than did my grandparents on their depression era farm. Here’s where I need your help. In order to function, our world needs manufactured products. We use resources which result in depletion and / or pollution continents away from where the production is used. The story linked below is just one of a vast compendium of examples of human dross scattered across the globe. In this example, a remote island with nothing but tourism for industry is inundated with more trash and debris than they can even manage to clean up. Complacent Consumers are Complicit When boiled down to its essence, undisciplined consumers are the culprits in this barrage of garbage. The problem is massive yet seems benign. What’s one more drinking straw on the ground? California tries to control the sale of such contraband but it seems to me, the better way to handle production refuse is to simply place a tariff on the product. The tariffs would create a market of their own. For example: Glass bottles cost more to manage might be cheaper to recycle (some of us remember the days of selling them for 2 and 3 cents apiece). The tariff would be substantial enough to fund recycling and proper disposal, including the graft, corruption and bureaucracy required for feeding the administrators. The tariff is a stand in for the unallocated cost of production. Think of it as part of the lifetime cost of anything that is produced. We’re forced to share this planet so we need to do our housekeeping. What are your thoughts?
